Meet us at CADFEM World Conference 2026 — October 20–22 at the darmstadtium in Darmstadt. At the DESIGNTEC booth, we will showcase real-world projects in simulation-driven engineering, CAE process automation and Digital Twins for critical infrastructure. Beyond simulation consulting and engineering services based on ANSYS, we develop custom solutions that extend and automate CAE workflows described below in this post.
This year’s conference theme, “Simulation, Silicon, Systems – Powered by AI,” aligns with the areas in which we actively help our customers innovate. The Digital Engineering Process Sessions focus on AI, PyAnsys, and automation — topics that have become a core part of our work.
Programming and automation in ANSYS
Custom ACT extensions, APDL scripts, UPFs (User Programmable Features) — tools we write ourselves, because the standard ANSYS Mechanical workflow doesn’t cover everything an engineer needs in practice.
One result is A-BOLT, our own application for bolted joint assessments per VDI 2230 and FKM.
Another is Figures Manager — a free ACT extension that automates the generation and export of result figures from ANSYS Mechanical, cutting out manual reporting work.
Where A-BOLT solves a specific engineering calculation, Figures Manager solves a workflow problem every ANSYS user runs into — which is why the wider ANSYS community uses it, not just our own clients.
Digital Twins for critical infrastructure
For long-term monitoring, a Digital Twin often makes more sense than a stand-alone FEM model. The platform runs a FEM model or a machine-learning model, occasionally both combined. ATENA Concrete for ANSYS
The newest addition to DESIGNTEC’s portfolio of ANSYS extensions — integrating the ATENA nonlinear concrete model from Červenka Consulting directly into ANSYS Mechanical, as an ACT extension with a UPF library. It’s aimed at universities, research institutions, and companies working with reinforced concrete structures, where a standard linear approach isn’t enough.
